Downloading Youtube vids

Have been using for some years “ Free you tube Downloader ,”  mainly for  Citroen classic car clips , (I know I should get out more )
Tried to use it , got a Update box for a later version ignored that ,   went to the site  and downloaded  the latest version ,  long story short  by about 4 hours of  reformatting –clean install and running a 3 week old back up , due to all the crap that came with it ,
Can anyone recommend  a simple free  clean app  for a P.C.

Thanks guys . finally settled on http://ytddownloader.com/ , seems they all come,  ,  with PUPS  , mainly virus/mal scanners , including YTD  it was 360 safe scanner , ( removed )
some wouldn't down load at all if if I took the tick out of excepting  my home page being changed & a mallware scanner ,
You Tube downloader does the job ,  but to convert the format is a 2 part operation
happy enough with it , and so is Avast & Super anti spyware , and I have taken it out of load at start up , as I value my slim running processes ,
