which AV you using and why?

Ive gone back to Norton Security with Backup (as ive 285 days left on it still from getting it for free) - I have to say of all the security programs I like this one the most - the GUI is just the best to use and the File Insight feature makes it all the more better, also the history Tab showing all the installs, detections, updates and CPU usage / Norton CPU usage is great

what are you using and why>?

Kaspersky Internet Security.

The reason why I use it is it has never let me down and has stopped me from accidentally clicking on infected website links.

Well worth the money IMHO

Avira is the one to get as its free and top at detections, seems to take a little while to load compared to previous versions though...combined with comodo firewall & Winpatrol you have solid security that bests the top paid products I think - BUT -  your running multiple programs...which, isnt that much of a biggy as each module within an internet security program runs seperate too...but at least those have been designed to run together

FREE:
Avira or Panda Anti-Virus
Comodo or Private Firewall
Winpatrol

PAID:
Kaspersky
Bitdefender
Norton

Another Avira fan. I get Kaspersky free from my bank. I have it on my laptop but I've had issues with it on my main PC and when I installed it on my smartphone.

Trend Micro Maximum Security on Windows 7. ESET Smart Security for Windows 8.

They've been great performers and reliability for me. Trend covers 3 computers.

I personally don't follow any software to detect and remove malware. I just keep all the software updated. I do safe browsing while online, especially I don't click the links and annoying popups. I blocked all the scripts which sometimes run on our browsers and we don't even know about that. I firstly scans and then open the attachments which come from other sources. I daily check task manager that which resource is consuming more space or time and why.
That's all I do and don't use antivirus.
