Yea I had a problem with the 2.4ghz network with merlin it kept dropping so I went back to asus and it's fine but that was a while ago. All I use is 5.0ghz network on my phone and laptop and it works brilliant (obviously your devices have to be 5.0ghz enabled)

I'm currently using the 5GHz channel for phones, Tablets and Sky box. However I did notice that my Asus 56U 5GHz channel is just slightly weaker than the Billion 2.4GHz channel. I'll do some back to back real world testing testing with all 3 once it arrives.

Well if you can use that all over your house then hopefully it will cover my flat. The n56u 5ghz is down to 1 bar on my phone just going through two plasterboard walls.

Sounds good that! It's meant to arrive by the end of the week so will setup and test over the weekend.

5Ghz is always weaker than 2.4Ghz as it uses higher frequencies which attenuate more (are weaker) so you get less range...but..higher frequencies can carry data faster hence the higher throughput in-home network speed tests on various websites

Hopefully it does the trick for me too. I must admit, The GUI for the Asus items is spot on. Everything is so easy to find.

Typical, As I just ordered the N66U, Places have started pre-ordering the DSL-AC68U. I'll give it time to come down in price as its 199.

Let the bugs get ironed out etc. Turns out my phone is AC but no way am I upgrading for that. I'll be happy with my current setup. Just wish it would arrive so I can get tinkering.

Ok . I got the router this afternoon and having some problems.
I connected it all up and it worked straight out the box. Literally! I never setup sod all and it was working. I couldn't log in to it either using the default login and password. So done a recovery mode thing following all the instruction. It uploads the firmware then says system recovery in progress. Once this gets to 100% it just shows failed to connect to the wireless router.
I've checked instructions and watched YouTube videos and everything is being done exactly as instructed but always gets to this point and that's it. Help!!!

I just done the process again for about the 5th time and went out for a few hours. By the time I got back it kicked itself into life but kept shoeing failed to communicate. Then with it powered up I held the reset button for approx 10 seconds until the LEDs flashed. Strange but at least its working. Just need to put it in place now and put my details in.
