Why do you need to remove turf?... Just treat it with weed killer, it will soon die off.

removing it as want to put stone down
only 38 sq mtrs , get the spade out, or find a Pole ,
Just had 300 + sq mtrs of jungle removed , crushed concrete laid
and compacted and stone laid , = 1,600 at mates rates ,
be aware removing the turf is easy ,(only 38sq mtrs should take an easy 2 days.
BUT before the stone . are you putting down a barrier mat  ? IMHO experience that doesn't work , grass roots maybe just a few inches deep ,  but any weeds like dandelions /Thistles go as deep as Australia  and will burst back through any permeable barrier mat, (Done that got the T shirt + a gallon can of weed killer going spare )
so much depends on the site and drainage ,  the slope of the land etc ,

Yea, When I was a self employed handyman back in the 80s, I lived on the Isle of Mull in North West Scotland and I used one to remove turf from a back garden for a woman that wanted a vegetable patch installed, I hired one from a local hire dealer, some you push and some are self propelled which cost more. I got a pusher, it vibrates and has an adjustable blade that cuts down and under the turf. I damaged the blade after hitting submerged concrete so had to pay up an extra 20 for new blade when I took it back.   Then...after removing the turf, I hired a rotavator, but the ground was so compacted it wouldnt touch it,  the woman who was watching from a window saw me struggling with the machine and she opened her back door to speak to me, as she did so , her pet Rhodesian Ridgeback burst out  unexpectedly from behind her and charged across the garden and attacked me, I grabbed a nearby garden fork to defend myself, a couple of prods and it soon got the message to pull back but the woman was furious I had hurt her dog and she refused to pay me so was 40 out of pocket on that one but at least I retained my nuts
