so reading between the lines,if you have win 7 sp1 as your OS and have firewall active its as good or better than all the other 3rd party solutions?!

Not at all Steve, they obviously were continuing to support MS Essentials for XP, and still do, but they completely forked up on the update in question.

Anyway, stuff Microsoft, Avast seems far better.
