Well it's the slowest I've ever experienced it as I'm posting now with an average of 10 seconds to load a page and I'm on a FTTC broadband connection !

Off line again !!! this time caused by

The datacenter is currently offline due to a suspected attack causing all VPC peer links to fail. Cisco TAC are currently working on the issue and all servers should be back online shortly.
Not having much luck are we   >:(

Thing is Tom you are always going to get issues with shared hosting that's the way it works.
There are other options of course like Dedicated, Managed vps, Unmanaged vps , the last one being the cheapest of course just means more work under the hood.

Yes I understand that but it's like anything some are better then others and going by comments on web hosting talk ezpz have been going down hill over the last few months and a lot of unhappy customers.

is that what have you been reading Tom?

if you ask me it sounds like they are about to sustain a long ongoing attack phase and this is just the start of it..

Yes I have read it on a few threads and there was one just under yours about he wouldn't recommend them and the problems he has had with them he said they are over selling.

From one member

Honestly, i wouldn't advice anyone to join EZPZhosting at this moment. I'll repeat myself, being a three year customer, in saying i have seen it go downhill fast. Servers seem to be to much oversold. Very slow sometimes, high loads, and downtimes. If you contact support about the loads you get some standard answer they will investigate it but a day later it is happening all over again.

From an almost 10 to a medium 5 in three years.

Down two days ago en down again at this moment for more than an hour now. Opened a URGENT ticket 43 minutes ago and no response so far.

If you go to the status page it looks like everything iw working perfectly. I noticed even when the server is down everything is green.

The homepage claim is also a marketing gimmick i guess:
Average ticket response time: 10 minutes -- Average server uptime last month: 100%

And another

I've been watching this for a while myself. While the average response time is in line with what I've experienced when I contact EZPZ, the average server uptime is misleading and in my experience wrong. I have been with EZPZ for almost a year with some personal services and after downtime, the average server uptime is not updated. Unless of course it is a rounded number where the average among all the servers is rounded up (which is definitely misleading)

As an example of an alternative hosting company:
Heart Internet Starter Pro @ 2.99 per month.

http://www.heartinternet.co.uk/web-hosting

I have four websites with them and for quite some time, no problems  :)
...who said that?

thanks for the reply Tom & Stevan thanks for the suggestion, will look into it

I think a less popular/well known host might be good as its not being used by everyone (if you know what I mean) - like our old hosts HostXnow was great when they first started but 1 year later we started too have the same issues we have here (plus more such as hotmail being blocked etc)

Please wait. A member of the sales team will be with you shortly.
Mike says:
Hello Paul. My name is Mike in sales how can I help you?
Paul says:
  Hi Mike
Mike says:
  Afternoon
Paul says:
I wanted to know if your basic option for 2.75-VAT be able to host a SMF forum on cPanel etc? I have a 2 year olf SMF forum running on EZPZ and need out as weve had nothing but problems since moving to them from HostXnow (who also had issues) - I see your basic package doesnt include PHP so this means the forum would not work yes?
Paul says:
  *old
Mike says:
Ok let me check for you
Paul says:
  sorry i meant MySQL...not PHP
Paul says:
  as forums use databases
Mike says:
  ok mySQL databvases?
Mike says:
no it would not be sufficient, you will need the Home Pro
Mike says:
when are you needing soemthing set up
Paul says:
well TBH we are just looking at other hosts at moment, our forum is currently active but the hosts have been poor of late and we need to get off the "sinking ship" soon, our forum is small and has just 5-6 regular users and it keeps going slow and offline due to problems at their end (often which they deny theres any issue, but glance on Web Hosting Talk and you will see others complaining of the same issues) - dunno if we could stretch from current 4 month to 9 month... I guess at that price i
Paul says:
  ...it must be good
Mike says:
yes its 8.99 + VAT per month
Paul says:
  thats with VAT included yes?
Mike says:
  Plus VAT
Paul says:
  so how much in total?
Mike says:
  10.78
Paul says:
hmmm - your homepage says 7.50 excluding VAT at 20% - so thats 9 included?
Mike says:
thats the monthly equivalent of paying annually
Paul says:
is it? maybe it should say that then...it is mis-leading?
Mike says:
its something to do with google why it has to be that way
Paul says:
so its 10.78 month (136 per year) if you want to pay monthly or 108 per year if you pay annually
Paul says:
  sorry 129 per year
Mike says:
107.88 inclusive of VAT annually yes
Paul says:
ok thanks...we'll mull it over as its quite expensive in comparison to others, do you have much downtime?
Mike says:
not really no to be honest
Mike says:
UK servers do generally cost more though
Paul says:
we are currently in UK and paying 4 month - most other hosts seem to have similar deals, 3Gb disk (of which we use half at most) and 30Gb usage (of which we use 4-5Gb at most)
Paul says:
ok well thanks, will let you know..

Something not right there, anything running in the background that's consuming resources ?
