Unfortunately I don't have the room really for a projector. When I get a new house. It may be on the cards.

LOL. You could get the same size screen (and bigger) with a projector, for much, much less.

My parents have a Panasonic plasma and a led/LCD TV. Both look good to be honest. The plasma is older than my 5yo Sony where as the Samsung is new. I retesting to see how a similar age plasma will look to the Samsung. I'll be straight into John lewis for a look although I do know I won't get the best test due to the setup of the shop.

Whatever you decide to buy, my strong advice would be to buy it from John Lewis, fantastic service standards and the 5 year warranty for peace of mind.

They will of course price match any " bricks and mortar " retailer.

John Lewis is where I bought my existing set. They gave me a few hundred off as it was a display item but upon taking it to a loading bay, Someone returned the same one saying it was too big for the room (Bought two hours previously) so they gave me that for the same price. They seem to have the best selection in my area anyway.

have to agree there - the quality of projectors is pretty amazing at the moment, ive heard you can get them for like 300-400 too, HD ones with 100" screen, dunno if thats true or not though, I would love to have one

I never got any reply to this one either!
I was in John Lewis looking at the Sony W905 and all other manufacturers and must say the W905 was looking great! Also had a look in the Sony store and looked great there too.
Although when I was in both, I spotted the Sony 4K TV and it looking absolutely stunning so as my current one is still going, I may just hold out for prices to drop on 4K TV's. If my TV were to fail tomorrow I think I would go straight in and purchase the W905. At present it can stay on the back burner and see what happens.

Would not match my ageing...full stop. ;D

I actually like the idea of having forward facing, decent speakers, makes a novel change from the usual weak sound from recent TV's.

So it has! That was quick. Still not low enough for me to buy. I prefer to wait a while after a new tech is released plus I could never really justify that amount of money for a TV.

Thing is you would have been watching a 4k (2160p) demo on the Sony...  You would not get that picture quality when you got it home and started to watch 480p regular tv, unlikely to be 4k broadcast for years... If it even happens, when broadcasters are still just rolling out hd 1080p

Exactly Snadge!!
Even though the PS4 will be 4K compatible, The PS3 still only mainly has games at 720p. I think it is just a gimmick just now this 4K malarky.
