Should parents take their children out during term time?

By JANE DEITH
More parents who take their children out of school without permission during term time could face a fine or even be taken to court, after a landmark ruling by the Supreme Court.

I don't see a problem with it, if their attendance is good and they no exames, then yes.
But for those who have carp attendance, I say no. The only exception would be a letter from the family doc.

I say no, plenty of time during school holidays unless exceptional circumstances exist
An intelligent man is sometimes forced to be drunk to spend time with his fools.

I see your piont of view den. :)
But sometimes it's more important to spend time with family;
you just don't know how long everyone's got.

sort go with Fudgies view , do we need laws and courts for responsible parents , but then these days, do any responsible parents exist, or is the kid just a meal and accommodation ticket from the DHSS ?,
so no harm if I take Wayne Jnr out of school  at cheap mid term school  holiday,  neck a few beers and   meet his next new brothers dad for bonus  points,

Maybe im old fashioned, still when i was at school the can was still in use and teachers weren't afraid th clip the ear of unruly children.

Hi Den.
Your not old fashion, I happen to agree with you, when when it comes to a good clip in the ear.
When I was at school, a got the cane and the strap, never did me any harm.
Infact it keept me on the staight and narrow.

Trouble is now days, good teachers/parents have their hands tied and can't do a thing except send the child to isolation, which doesn't work.

As a parent I have given my my kids a good clip in the ear when they have needed it, in past.
